TMC Transportation has an immediate full-time opening for a Database Administrator working out of our office in Des Moines, Iowa.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: 

This individual is responsible for administering and maintaining all databases for the company. In addition, they developing the long-term data management and data storage strategy at the enterprise level. The DBA is ultimately responsible for the management and establishment of policies and procedures related to the data security and integrity of TMC Transportation’s business systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administration of multiple databases in a highly redundant SQL clustered environment.
  • Reviews and executes SQL queries.
  • Performance tuning, health checks, and monitoring of Microsoft SQL databases.
  • Reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and recommends both short and long-term database strategies.
  • Works closely with IT management, network administrators, project managers, and developers on requirements for database design.
  • Manages and monitors data security and database access.
  • Manages and monitors database backups.
  • Configuring and monitoring MongoDB instances and replica sets.
  • Index optimization, query optimization, maintenance plans, and related SQL Administrator activities.
  • Partner with the Data Analytics team to design and develop data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Documenting standards and database architectures.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training.
  • 2 years of experience as a database administrator or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Database tuning, monitoring, installation, configuration, and maintenance experience.
  • Understanding of business intelligence and data warehouse environments.
  • Windows PowerShell, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Windows server.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with AWS or other cloud technologies.
  • Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL / document databases.
  • Understanding of DevOps and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with Rubrik or other backup platforms.
  • Familiarity with Spotlight or other database performance monitoring tools.
