TMC Transportation has an immediate full-time opening for a Network Administrator working out of our office in Des Moines, Iowa.




The Network Administrator is responsible for the maintenance of the enterprise network and server environment.  The individual is involved with the monitoring, troubleshooting, planning and advancement of the technology infrastructure at TMC Transportation.



  • Operational support and administration of enterprise network and server environment
  • Maintenance of virtual environments in multiple data centers
  • Administration and maintenance of security appliances and firewalls
  • Maintaining network connectivity for LAN/WAN in various environments
  • Administration of the corporate VPN
  • Working with technical support staff with escalated issues
  • Writing of small scripts to streamline tasks.
  • Reviews application, system and security logs on a regular basis.
  • Administration of the Avaya IP Office system
  • On call rotation which may include off-hour support.

Job Requirements


  • Working knowledge of Microsoft technologies: Exchange, Windows Server, SQL Server, Powershell, Active Directory
  • Working Knowledge of hypervisor technologies: VMware and Hyper-V
  • Problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to work in a team environment and independently



  • Working knowledge of switching technologies: Extreme Networks and HPE
  • Working Knowledge of wireless technologies: Ruckus and Aruba
  • Working Knowledge of security appliances: Fortinet and F5
  • Working Knowledge of storage technologies: iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS/Windows Shares
  • Experience with structured cabling: Cat5, Cat6, Single Mode and Multimode Fiber, SFP Transceivers, and DAC cabling
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education, certification and work experience
  • A+, Network+, CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, VMware certifications are desired but not required
  • 3 – 5 years of experience installing, configuring and supporting described infrastructure.
