TMC Transportation has an immediate opening for an Account Manager working out of our dedicated location in Newark, New Jersey.


The Account Manager will work directly with our customer’s personnel at their plant location and will be responsible for meeting customer’s shipping needs by optimizing use of dedicated, linehaul, and brokerage capacity. This individual will be responsible for coordinating the efforts between departments in order to meet the transportation needs for orders scheduled, while maximizing cost efficiency and maintain highest level of service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Work together with our customer on improving forecasting and capacity needed

Improve efficiencies in tracking and updating status of all customer orders being moved through TMC Transportation

Ability to work with customer to find solutions to move any last minute/critical shipments that arise


Work with customer to develop strategies to improve flow of trucks through the plant and reduce detention time


Responsible for overseeing preload operation, including supervision of yard driver and equipment.

Improve efficiencies and productivity of dedicated fleet trucks through the freight selection process

Coordinate and monitor committed volume levels to ensure these levels are being met or exceeded on a daily/weekly basis


Job Requirements


  • Four-year degree, preferably in Transportation and Logistics, and/or relevant experience in transportation or related field.
  • Fluent in computer applications and keyboard proficiency.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment, multitask and tolerate stress.
  • Ability to plan and organize, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including good listening and negotiation skills.
  • Strong customer solicitation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
