PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The primary function of this position is to manage ongoing relationships with customers within a designated area by accepting freight, resolving issues, and using technology to ensure freight is assigned so customer requirements, as well as driver and company productivity goals, are met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

Develop and maintain relationships with customers.

 

Review list of incoming trucks and speaks directly with customers in an assigned territory to take load information and book freight for all available trucks.

 

Contact new and existing customers to solicit additional freight, as necessary to load trucks within the designated area.

 

Pre-book freight that cannot be immediately assigned.

 

Estimate date and time of pickup and delivery to customer, based on knowledge of the driver's location and schedule.

 

Research and resolve customer inquiries and problems.

 

Utilize web-based technology and gather and track operation data.

 

Enter customer data and shipping instructions for customers into computer database.

 

Participate in total quality management and process improvement teams.

 

Communicate effectively with customers, sales, Fleet Managers, and other internal personnel.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

 

Four-year degree, preferably in Transportation and Logistics, and/or relevant experience in transportation or related field.

 

Fluent in computer applications and keyboard proficiency.

 

Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress.

 

Ability to plan and organize, attention to detail, problem-solving skills.

 

Excellent interpersonal skills, including good listening skills.

 

Strong customer solicitation skills.

 

Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

 

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

 

Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.

 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Must be able to sit and use telephone and computer, simultaneously, for extended periods of time.

 

Must be able to speak and hear clearly in a high volume telephone environment.
