MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in Transportation, Workers Compensation, Insurance, or Medical preferred
- Four-year degree.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) products.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress.
- Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to plan, organize, be attentive to detail, and possess strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to sit and use telephone and computer, simultaneously, for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to speak and hear clearly in a high volume telephone environment.
- Position may require some travel to out of state terminals or customer locations.

TMC Transportation has an immediate full-time opening for a Workers Compensation Adjuster working out of our office in Des Moines, Iowa.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The primary function of a Workers Compensation Adjuster is to proactively manage workers compensation claims by determining compensability, administering authorization for treatment and accurately compensate disability benefits in accordance with Iowa Workers Compensation Laws. Additionally, the Workers Compensation Adjuster will assist in ensuring compliance with DOT regulations for CDL drivers’ non-work related medical conditions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle intake of the First Report of Injury for injured workers
- Thoroughly investigate and analyze loss information to determine compensability
- Sets and monitors reserves and payments
- Timely coordinates and authorizes medical treatment for injured workers
- Timely offers and coordinates light duty work and travel for injured workers on restricted duty
- Calculates average weekly wage and benefits rates and determines compensation owed to an injured worker
- Handle non-work related medical events for drivers and employees working in safety sensitive positions, which includes but is not limited to: intake, set up, and release back to full duty
- Other duties as assigned
