TMC Transportation has an immediate full-time opening for a Logistics General Manager working out of our office in Columbia, SC.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The General Manager is responsible for leading our rapidly growing sales team. There is an opportunity to build a strategy around growing inside and outside sales reps, with account managers and a sales manager as a direct report. This responsibility resides in our new facilities built with great confidence in staff expansion. The General Manager is accountable for both the hiring and leading exceptional people that are strong culture fits while facilitating healthy sales productivity on par with our proven sales development model. With support from other teams throughout TMC, the General Manager will develop and implement strategies for recruiting, employee training, and professional development. This role will also work closely with operations teams, who will service the awarded business of the sales team, as the General Manager oversees sales development and account management to establish and grow the client portfolio.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build a growing sales culture based on goals, accountability and performance that helps clients win with their supply chains
  • Drive energy, excitement, and a winning, infectious culture that supports the company focus on Destination Excellence
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate office team members
  • Assist team in sourcing, winning, improving, developing, and growing customer commitments.
  • Work collaboratively with capacity leadership showing sales team how to ensure timely and effective shipment execution.
  • Show employees how to resolve challenges as they arise concerning execution of loads from tendering, delivering, receivables, and payment of carrier
  • Update and assist in any necessary tasks that enhance improvement to the success of the branch
  • Lead branch succession planning process
  • Communicate efficiently with assigned associates while successfully assisting in building strong partnerships with internal and external clients
  • Recruitment and hiring of qualified individuals
  • Conduct performance appraisals on all direct reports
  • Update all Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  • Communicate efficiently with the VP and respective sales group with regards to challenges, successes, and general information with accounts, people, and processes on a daily and weekly basis
  • Work to build network relationships with other General Managers and offices.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Four-year degree in Transportation or Logistics OR relevant experience in transportation or related field
  • Four years of transportation or logistics experience in a 3PL environment preferred
  • Experience in inside or outside logistics sales required
  • Experience managing an inside or outside sales team preferred
  • Flatbed open deck logistics experience preferred
  • P&L Management Experience
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular to Word and Excel
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress
  • Ability to plan and organize, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Must be able to sit and use telephone and computer, simultaneously, for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to speak and hear clearly in a high volume telephone environment
