TMC Transportation has an immediate full-time opening for a Transport Operations Intern working out of our office in Brownsburg, IN.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Transport Operations Intern is a position that will rotate between learning the responsibilities of an Operations Fleet Manager and that of a Customer Service Representative (Load Planner). You will learn to operate our TMS (Transport Management System) to optimize freight choices, work as a team between departments, fulfil the needs of our customers, and build relationships with drivers with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.
As with all internships at TMC, the position is based on education, incorporating real life work, and dealing with day-to-day functions, while gaining insight in the Supply Chain and transportation industry.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate deliveries with consignees
- Assist with data entry
- Utilize our advanced software for optimum results
- Maximize driver productivity by key performance indicators
- Maintain record keeping data for On Time Delivery and On Time Pickup
- Build relationships with new customers and maintain existing long term relationships
- Determining and negotiating competitive truckload rates
