Job Requirements of Service Writer:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma with relevant work experience required.
- Strong computer knowledge with Microsoft Office products.
- Strong mechanical back ground is a plus
- Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to plan and organize, attention to detail, problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels company personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical requirements and work environment described are representative of those present while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Must be able to sit and use telephone and computer, simultaneously, for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to speak and hear clearly in a high volume telephone environment.
- Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).

TMC Transportation has an immediate opening for a Service Writer working out of our Des Moines, IA shop.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Manages the scheduling and planning of all maintenance through the AHI internal Maintenance departments by performing the following duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Schedules tractors and trailers for service and repairs based on date of last service, urgency of repairs, delivery requirements, driver requirements, and operations request.
- Communicates regularly and consistently with Customer Service Representatives, Fleet Managers, Drivers, Shop Management and Road Repairs to determine needed repairs and establish a service schedule in advance of arrival of the equipment.
- Works directly with shop management to verify availability of facilities.
- Reviews and closes repair orders based on procedures provided by the service manager
