TMC Transportation has an immediate full-time opening for a Solution Architect working out of our office in Des Moines, Iowa.



This position will be the lead technical resource over TMC’s finance and accounting systems. The Solution Architect will be responsible for the architecture, design, and technical oversight over back-office implementations as part of TMC’s 3rd Party Applications team.



  • Provide architecture, design, technical oversight over the technology within TMC’s back office.  This includes financial, payroll and accounting systems
  • Serve as technical subject matter expert (SME) for all things related to 3rd party systems within the finance and accounting areas.
  • Design and implement integrations with and between accounting systems and applications within the back office.
  • Serve on the Enterprise Architecture team, providing insight into application solutions and 3rd party/vendor solutions.
  • Partner with vendors to provide strategic direction and support of applications and solutions.
  • Work closely with other enterprise initiatives such as the maturity of TMC’s Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Work with the PMO and internal teams to provide insight on complex technology matters.
  • Create proof-of-concepts to demonstrate viability of solutions under consideration.
  • Work with business stakeholders to define business and technical requirements.
  • Participate in enterprise road mapping and strategic planning meetings. 

Job Requirements


  • 3 years of experience in designing, engineering or supporting financial technology solutions.
  • Strong understanding of web services, API frameworks, and micro-service architectures.
  • Experience in enterprise systems, integration architecture, governance, and cloud-based ecosystems.
  • Experience with software development life cycle processes or Agile development.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and consultation skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Management, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related field.



  • Experience working in technology in the Transportation/Logistics industry.
  • Experience with Integration Platform as a Service (IPaaS) solutions.
  • Exposure to modern Enterprise Architecture frameworks and tools.
