TMC Transportation has an immediate full-time opening for a Transport Operations Intern working out of our office in Brownsburg, IN.

 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Transport Operations Intern is a position that will rotate between learning the responsibilities of an Operations Fleet Manager and that of a Customer Service Representative (Load Planner). You will learn to operate our TMS (Transport Management System) to optimize freight choices, work as a team between departments, fulfil the needs of our customers, and build relationships with drivers with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

As with all internships at TMC, the position is based on education, incorporating real life work, and dealing with day-to-day functions, while gaining insight in the Supply Chain and transportation industry.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate deliveries with consignees
  • Assist with data entry
  • Utilize our advanced software for optimum results
  • Maximize driver productivity by key performance indicators
  • Maintain record keeping data for On Time Delivery and On Time Pickup
  • Build relationships with new customers and maintain existing long term relationships
  • Determining and negotiating competitive truckload rates

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Current student in a related program: Logistics, Supply Chain, Marketing, Business, Communications
  • Proficiency with MS Office software
  • Ability to execute a vision, manage multiple priorities, and achieve results
  • Outgoing personality with expertise at developing relationships
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous sales, operations, optimization, or customer service experience is a plus
