TMC Transportation has an immediate opening for an Administrative Assistant working out of our Human Resources Department in our corporate office in Des Moines, IA.

Summary : To assist and provide support to the Human Resources Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees.
  • Assist with all aspects of recruitment (respond to employment inquiries, post new positions on various websites, sort/log incoming resumes, coordinate candidate interviews/drug screens/physicals and check references).
  • Assist with administering and/or facilitating new hires including preparation of offer letters and new hire packets, processing paperwork, and assisting in orientation process of new employees.
  • Sort and deliver daily departmental mail.
  • Assist Human Resources Generalist with administration of unemployment matters.
  • Provide back-up telephone coverage.
  • Assist with benefit administration as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Experience :                                          

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of job responsibilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills
  • Ability to share knowledge and work in a strong team oriented environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
