TMC Transportation has an immediate full-time opening for a Business Systems Consultant working out of our office in Des Moines, IA.


The Business Systems Consultant (BSC) serves as a liaison between Information Technology and our Business Teams and is responsible for creating, planning, and helping to implement technology solutions for complex business opportunities and problems. This individual provides support to leadership through their technical expertise in the identification, evaluation, and production of cost-effective solutions that maintain business productivity.


  • Partner with business and technology teams to evaluate moderately complex business problems and lead a help build comprehensive technology solutions
  • Act as an internal technology consultant to identify, elicit, and manage business requirements throughout their lifecycle
  • Lead or participate in technology initiatives for simple to moderately complex problems within business operations
  • Contribute to the development of systems and procedures that are both cost effective and meet the relevant business requirements
  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to identify and design technology-driven solutions to advance business operations
  • Coordinate communication and information flow between business and technology teams
  • Analyze and define business processes to improve efficiencies and reduce costs
  • Initiate RFI/RFP processes, manage responses, and organize the product evaluation lifecycle
  • Participate in the entirety of the project lifecycle from inception to delivery and monitoring
  • Provide regular status reports and dashboards to stakeholders

Job Requirements


  • Proficient with various requirement elicitation and management techniques 
  • Understanding of software development practices, languages, and tools
  • Experience with business process mapping and workflow requirements
  • Agile software development experience
  • Regulatory project experience
  • Self-motivated and result oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to learn and understand business concepts in transportation and logistics


  • 6+ years of Business Systems experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education
  • Experience working in technology in the Transportation/Logistics industry
